Correction, August 2026: this page previously counted about 1,500 Malaysian staff as offshore workers, on the strength of a ZoomInfo company profile. A reader pointed out that those people came to SEEK through its acquisition of JobStreet and JobsDB, and they serve SEEK's own Asian markets rather than doing work moved out of Australia. The Story

  • Correction, August 2026This page previously listed roughly 1,500 SEEK staff in Malaysia as offshore workers, and a report on this site used that figure to call SEEK out for sending "almost half its own overseas". A reader challenged it and they were right. Those people came to SEEK through its acquisition of JobStreet and JobsDB, completed in 2014, and they work on SEEK's own Asian marketplaces across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Buying a business that already employs people overseas is not the same as moving Australian work offshore, and by this site's own scope rule it should never have been counted. The single source behind the figure was a ZoomInfo company profile, which is a data broker rather than a company disclosure or a news report. The record has been withdrawn and SEEK removed from that report. No evidence has been found that SEEK has moved Australian roles offshore. If you have any, please submit a tip. [Jobstreet by SEEK]

If a company isn't listed here, that doesn't mean it doesn't offshore. And every number is the lowest we can prove, so the real figures can often be higher.

This started as an ASX 200 project and mostly still is. It has widened as stories landed from outside that list, so it now also covers employers that aren't ASX-listed, like Canva, Allianz Australia, SS&C and Crown Resorts, along with government departments and agencies. Companies get added when something surfaces about them, not by working through a list in order.

Australian companies are under no obligation to disclose where their work is done, and there is no register of offshored jobs. Everything here comes from something that surfaced publicly: an annual report, a modern slavery statement, a news article, a union statement, a government contract, or a tip from someone who was there.

So an absence usually means nobody has reported on that company and we haven't got to it yet, not that it keeps its work onshore. Some of the biggest offshorers say nothing at all. And because each figure counts only what a source actually stated, the real numbers can often run higher, sometimes much higher.
